Reproduction estimates

Every year we try to estimate the reproductive success in crab plovers to monitor the status of the species. Therefore we are very much helped with data on the % first-winter birds in a group of crab plovers. When you happen to you see a group of crab plovers and you are able to count the number of adults and first-winter birds, please contact us. First-winter crab plovers are easy to recognize by their spotted crown and hind neck and their greyish mantle. For instance, above picture shows 2 first-winter crab plovers and about 22 adult crab plovers. We are also helped with pictures on groups of crab plovers.

Colour-ringed birds

Over the years we banded a large number of birds with colour rings. Please contact us if you have seen a colour-ringed bird in the area.
